SC to hear today PIL against false FIRs, seeks preventive measures

New Delhi, Feb 26 (IANS) The Supreme Court is slated to hear on Thursday a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking directions to the Centre and state authorities to install “display boards” at police stations, court complexes and public offices highlighting the penal provisions and punishment for filing false complaints, false charges and fabricated evidence.

NCERT halts Class 8 textbook distribution over judiciary chapter error

New Delhi, Feb 25 (IANS) The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has temporarily halted the distribution of its newly released Social Science textbook for Class 8 after certain inappropriate textual material and an error of judgement were found to have inadvertently appeared in Chapter 4, titled “The Role of Judiciary in our Society” (pages 125–142).
