Pakistan: Transporters announce strike against daily revision of fuel price, excessive fines

Islamabad, Aug 7 (IANS) The Pakistan Mini Mazda Association and the All Pakistan Goods Transport Owners Association have announced a wheel-jam strike across the nation from August 8 against the government's daily pricing mechanism for fuel, excessive fines and several issues that impact the transport sector, warning that the strike would severely affect the movement of imports and exports, local media reported on Friday.

Quetta, Aug 7 (IANS) Human rights organisation Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) welcomed a petition filed by several international human rights groups with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD) on behalf of its leader and human rights defender Mahrang Baloch, who is serving a life sentence in Pakistan, describing her detention as “arbitrary”.
