Ranji Trophy: Jadeja takes five while batters flounder on return to domestic red-ball cricket

New Delhi, Jan 23 (IANS) The sixth round of the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy season began with much fanfare on Thursday, with all eyes being on the Indian Test team players turning out for their respective state teams. Following the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) guidelines that made it mandatory for international cricketers to play domestic matches, Ravindra Jadeja had a day to remember on his return to Ranji Trophy by picking 5-66 and making 38 with the bat for Saurashtra on Day One of their game against Delhi.

MCA achieves Guinness World Record for Largest Cricket Ball Sentence at Wankhede

Mumbai, Jan 23 (IANS) The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Thursday made another achievement by setting a new Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Cricket Ball Sentence’ as part of the celebrations commemorating the 50th anniversary of the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The MCA used 14,505 leather cricket balls to meticulously put together the sentence and break the old record.

Alyssa Healy included as batter only in Australia's Ashes Test squad

Melbourne, Jan 23 (IANS) Australia have named captain Alyssa Healy as a batter only in the day-night Ashes Test against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), starting January 30. The squad features the same 13 players that took part in the opening three ODIs, with Queenslander Georgia Voll a chance to make her Test debut. The match will be the first day-night Test at the MCG and the first women’s Test match at the venue since 1948-49.
