'Govt panel on mediation needs more time', Centre requests SC to defer Constitution Bench hearing

New Delhi, Sep 11 (IANS) Attorney General R. Venkataramani on Monday requested Chief Justice of India, D.Y. Chandrachud to defer proceedings coming up before the Constitution Bench on September 13 saying that the expert committee formed by the Centre to examine the working of arbitration law in the country and recommend reforms in the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 would need more time to prepare its report.

New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS) The Jharkhand High Court has directed the Additional Director General of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Sub Zone, Ranchi to pay a compensation of Rs 8 lakh to a man who was falsely implicated in a NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) and remained in jail for about 8 years for a crime he did not commit.
