Men's Jr Asia Cup Hockey: India eye title defense ahead of home World Cup next year

New Delhi, Nov 22 (IANS) The best junior men’s hockey teams from Asia will compete in the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2024 in Muscat, Oman from November 26 to December 4, with six spots up for grabs in the upcoming FIH Junior World Cup 2025, to be played in India. The tournament with an expanded competition format will feature 24 teams for the very first time.

Bengaluru, Nov 22 (IANS) The Indian junior men’s hockey team embarked from Bengaluru on Friday for their Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2024 campaign, in Muscat, Oman from November 26 to December 4. India have won the tournament for a record four times including 2023, 2015, 2008 and 2004. They beat nemesis Pakistan 2-1 in the final last year to lift the title.

With this title, India has joined South Korea as the most successful team in the history of the ACT, with both nations now holding three titles each.

Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports and Labour and Employment, Dr Mansukh L. Mandaviya made this announcement after witnessing the Indian women's hockey team's triumph over China in the final at the Bihar University Ground in Nalanda here.
