Football: India lose 1-2 in close battle with Myanmar in international friendly

Yangon (Myanmar), July 9 (IANS) The Indian senior women's team suffered a 1-2 defeat to hosts Myanmar in the first of their two friendly matches at the Thuwunna Stadium here on Tuesday. In the first meeting between Myanmar and India after more than five years, the hosts scored both goals from set pieces. Tetsuro Uki's side took the early lead courtesy of a header from Odisha FC's Win Theingi Tun in the 14th minute.

A UEFA Pro License holder through the FAW Coach Education System, Bellamy has been a coach since retiring from playing in 2014, most recently as acting Head Coach and Assistant Coach at Burnley in the English Premier League.

Mumbai City FC sign Daniel Lalihimpuia on one-year contract

Mumbai, July 8 (IANS) Mumbai City FC have confirmed the signing of Daniel Lalhlimpuia on a free transfer, the striker joining the Islanders on a one-year contract until the end of the 2024-25 season. Hailing from Mizoram, the 26-year-old began his football career at the Chandigarh Football Academy before moving to the AIFF Elite Academy. He has represented the national team at several youth levels, captaining the U-19 team, and made his senior national team debut in 2016.

Indian senior women’s team aims to register first win against higher-ranked Myanmar

Yangon (Myanmar), July 8 (IANS) The Indian senior women's team touched down in Myanmar on Sunday night ahead of the first of their two friendlies against the hosts on Tuesday at the Thuwunna Stadium. This will be India's second consecutive FIFA women's international match window in which the team faces a higher-ranked opponent. Myanmar is ranked 54th in the world, while India are 67th. The Blue Tigresses had previously faced 48th-ranked Uzbekistan in Tashkent on May 31 and June 4, losing 0-3 and drawing 0-0, respectively.
