India’s LNG import bill rises as prices, shipping costs shoot up

New Delhi, Aug 26 (IANS) India's LNG imports have shot up by 24 per cent to $5.6 billion during April-July of the current financial year, up from $4.5 billion in the same period of the previous financial year with shipments being increasingly sourced from the US amid the West Asia crisis, according to data compiled by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Vijaypura (Karnataka), Aug 26 (IANS) A mother and her five children were found dead in Bhootanala Lake on the outskirts of Vijayapura city in north Karnataka on Wednesday, in a suspected case of suicide. The circumstances surrounding the deaths, however, remain unclear and police are investigating whether the six died by suicide or were victims of a crime.

Lucknow, Aug 26 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, on Wednesday flagged off special buses in Lucknow under a new initiative offering lifelong free bus travel to women aged 60 and above. The scheme has been named after the 18th-century ruler Ahilyabai Holkar in recognition of her contribution to women's empowerment, good governance and cultural preservation.
