New Delhi, Oct 19 (IANS) From a distant island, the members of the British Parliament gathered in the summer of 1806 to deliberate the fate of Oude (Awadh), a kingdom whose very existence and sovereignty were subjects of their heated discussion. These were not the voices of our people or our princes; they were the pronouncements of foreign rulers, wielding increasing and unaccountable power over our destinies.
