India and Japan force for peace, progress and stability in Asia, world: PM Modi

Tokyo, Aug 29 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that India and Japan will continue to be a force for peace, progress and stability in Asia and the entire world. Lauding ties between India and Japan, he stated that the two nations are not just "close partners" but ancient civilisations, vibrant democracies and leading economic powers, who share a common strategic outlook.

Kabul, Aug 29 (IANS) Afghanistan's foreign ministry summoned Pakistan's ambassador in Kabul to lodge a formal protest against what Taliban authorities said were Pakistani military strikes in Nangarhar and Khost provinces, the local media reported on Friday. Afghan officials "strongly condemned" the overnight strikes which according to them claimed the lives of three people and injured seven others.
