Dubai, Sep 30 (IANS) Sri Lanka made it two wins in two games while Pakistan succumbed to their second defeat, going down to Bangladesh by 23 runs in the Women's T20 World Cup warm-up action here on Monday. The lead-up to the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 saw another round of interesting games as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh triumphed on the third day of the warm-up games against Scotland and Pakistan respectively.

Sarfaraz, Jurel & Dayal released from India Test squad to participate in Irani Cup

New Delhi, Sep 30 (IANS) Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel and Yash Dayal have been released from India’s Test squad in the ongoing second Test at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur to participate in the Irani Cup, said the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The 2024/25 Irani Cup game, to be played between the Rest of India and Ranji Trophy winners Mumbai, is set to begin on October 1 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Lynford Inverary appointed Cricket West Indies’ new COO and Acting CEO

New Delhi, Sep 30 (IANS) Cricket West Indies (CWI) has appointed Lynford Inverary as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO) and acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO). CWI said the decision was made by the Board of Directors during a meeting held in Port of Spain. Inverary’s appointment as COO will be effective from October 1, while his role as acting CEO will commence on November 1 following the departure of Johnny Grave. "I am honoured and grateful to the CWI Board of Directors for their vote of confidence in my ability to lead.”

New Delhi, Sep 30 (IANS) Legendary India cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar have announced the launch of a six-team International Masters League (IML), the inaugural edition of which is set to be played this year. The tournament will feature cricket stars from six nations – India, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, England and Sri Lanka. Tendulkar will be back to playing on the 22 yards via this league, while Gavaskar has been appointed as the League Commissioner.
