Sharjah, Oct 8 (IANS) Defending champions Australia proved why they are considered the top favourite to retain the title, coming up with a dominant performance to outclass neighbours New Zealand and take control of Group A at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup here on Tuesday. In the five-team Group of Death which has India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as the other contenders for the knockout spots, Australia scored their second successive win and moved up to four points.

Led by Sophie, England’s four-pronged spin-bowling attack enabled the 2009 champions to halt South Africa’s fast start and restrict them to 124/6. In reply, Danni Wyatt-Hodge's 43 and Nat’s unbeaten 48 helped England complete the chase with four balls to spare.

Multan, Oct 7 (IANS) England assistant coach Jeetan Patel said he was impressed with the side’s efforts in a day full of toil and be rewarded with late scalps on Day One of the first Test against Pakistan at the Multan Cricket Stadium here on Monday. Pakistan were in total control of the proceedings, as Abdullah Shafique and captain Shan Masood notched up centuries while sharing a 253-run stand. But England fought back from being 261/1 at the start of the final session to end Day One at 328/4.
