New Delhi, Aug 7 (IANS) Purani Dilli 6 owner Akash Nangia hailed his side's resilience after they bounced back from defeat with a convincing 27-run victory over New Delhi Tigers in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, saying the response reflected the character within the squad.
After suffering a setback against Central Delhi Kings, Purani Dilli 6 returned to winning ways with a clinical all-round display at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday to register their second victory of the season.
"This was an extremely important win for us, especially after the match against Central Delhi Kings. The way the team responded reflects the character and resilience within this squad," Nangia said.
The franchise owner credited the players for quickly putting the previous defeat behind them and emphasised the importance of maintaining momentum in a long tournament.
Nangia singled out opener Aryan Gaur for special praise after his match-winning knock set the platform for the team's success. He also lauded the bowling unit for executing their plans effectively while defending the total.
"Aryan Gaur played a magnificent innings and laid the perfect foundation for us. It was an innings full of intent and maturity. At the same time, I am equally pleased with the bowling unit. Defending a total requires discipline, and our bowlers executed their plans brilliantly by keeping the pressure on throughout the chase," he added.
Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was also present at the venue to support the franchise during the match. Ahead of the contest, he was felicitated by Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley.
Nangia expressed his gratitude to Harbhajan for supporting the team and said the veteran's presence added to the occasion.
Looking ahead to the remainder of the tournament, Nangia stressed that the team's strength lies in its collective effort, with different players making decisive contributions in different matches.
"Our biggest strength has been the willingness of different players to step up at different moments. That collective effort will be crucial as the tournament progresses. Our focus now is to carry this winning momentum forward, improve with every game and maintain consistency," he said.
