Mumbai, June 30 (IANS) Veteran Bollywood star and popular villain of the 70-80s era of Bollywood, Ranjeet took a trip down memory lane after actress Bindu described him as an 'innocent' and 'jovial' person in a recent interview.
The actor, reacting to her interview , recalled a playful incident from years ago when she had pulled his ears.
Reacting to Bindu's comments in a video message, Ranjeet thanked the actress for her praise and said it brought back fond memories from their years of working together.
"Ms. Bindu, how did you know that I was innocent? Thank you so much for praising me. It felt wonderful and brought back so many old memories,” he said.
He further added with a laugh, “I also remembered that I have a photograph in which you're pulling my ears. If I was so innocent, then why were you pulling my ears? I still don't understand. Please call me and tell me."
For the uninitiated, the two veterans have been a part of the Hindi film industry for more than five decades now. They have shared screen space in many Hindi films over the decades, appearing together in movies such as 'Naseeb', 'Laawaris', 'Prem Rog', and other popular entertainers of the 1970s and 1980s.
Ranjeet, whose real name is Gopal Bedi, became one of Bollywood's most iconic villains during the 1970s and 1980s.
He was known for portraying ruthless antagonists, smugglers, landlords and morally corrupt characters - the one who would even tease, molest the heroine on-screen and give a tough fight to the hero.
He went on to feature in hundreds of films and earned a reputation as one of Hindi cinema's most recognisable on-screen villains.
Despite his intimidating screen image, colleagues have often described him as soft-spoken, witty and affectionate in real life.
Talking about Bindu, the actress remains one of Hindi cinema's most celebrated actresses, remembered for her memorable performances in films such as 'Kati Patang', 'Amar Prem', 'Abhimaan', 'Do Raaste', ‘Abhimaan’ 'Main Hoon Na' and others.
