Mumbai, June 29 (IANS) Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has shared an interesting insight into Shah Rukh Khan’s working style.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, he recalled how SRK used to rehearse like a newcomer.
IANS asked the director about his experience working with actors across different generations. What is his perspective on the fact that older actors are often seen as more patient and tolerant, while younger actors are considered relatively more impatient? How does he view these differences, and how does his approach of repeating takes with actors fit into his directing style?
In his reply to this, Hirani mentioned, “I feel that this fight is not of old or new generation actors. It is an attitude of individuals. I have worked with Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arshad Warsi. So, they are extremely dedicated to their work. I have worked with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. I find the same amount of dedication in them. So, it is a personal attitude of a person. But it is an individual thing. Someone's attitude is like, I am tired. They keep cribbing on the set.”
He added, "When you work with Shah Rukh, you see commitment. He would send me rehearsal videos a day before, just like a newcomer. Every day, he would shoot scenes on his phone and send them to me, saying, 'Let's do this scene like this.' It genuinely made me feel like I was working with a newcomer."
“I have worked with Ranbir and Vicky. Ranbir used to come to do his make-up at 3 o'clock. Vicky used to sit and work with me. There is a tremendous amount of dedication that they also had. But there are other kinds of actors who limit themselves.”
Rajkumar Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan have collaborated on the 2023 comedy-drama “Dunki.”
