India strengthens global data centre standing; Mumbai, Hyderabad lead growth

New Delhi, Aug 6 (IANS) India's data centre sector is strengthening its position on the global digital infrastructure map, with Mumbai ranking among the world's top 15 data centre markets by operational capacity and Hyderabad emerging as one of the fastest-growing hubs, according to a report released on Thursday.

Over 2200 Afghans return home from Pakistan, Iran in single day

Kabul, Aug 6 (IANS) As many as 460 Afghan families, comprising 2,292 people, returned to the country from Iran and Pakistan in a single day, a top Taliban official said on Thursday. Sharing a daily operational report from the High Commission for Addressing Returnees’ Issues on social media platform X, Taliban Deputy Spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat detailed that 372 families, comprising 1,947 people, returned to Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing. As many as 17 families, comprising 85 individuals, returned to Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak crossing and a total of 66 families, comprising 239 individuals, returned to the country through the Silk Bridge crossing in Nimroz province.

Nepal: Planned conference on Tibetan studies cancelled amid reported Chinese concerns

Kathmandu, Aug 6 (IANS) A planned international conference on Tibetan studies in Kathmandu has been cancelled after Kathmandu University (KU) withdrew from hosting the event following a government directive. Local media reports have linked the decision to concerns raised by China, although the university says it does not know of any such pressure.
