11 'dance bars' sealed in North Goa on HC orders

Panaji, Dec 22 (IANS) A total of 11 restaurants in North Goa's Calangute, allegedly operating as dance bars in the guise of restaurants, have been sealed by the government on the directions of the Bombay High Court bench here.

Kolkata, Dec 22 (IANS) A division bench of the Calcutta High Court on Friday upheld the earlier single- judge bench of the same court allowing the West Bengal government employees, under the umbrella of Joint Forum of State Government Employees, to conduct protest demonstrations in front of the state secretariat in support of their demands for dearness allowance (DA) allowances at par with central government employees and the arrears accrued on it.

Varanasi, Dec 22 (IANS) The Varanasi district court has fixed January 3 as the next date of hearing on three applications, including one by the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee (AIMC), seeking an order that the report on the scientific survey of the Gyanvapi mosque should be kept in a sealed cover and not be given to any of the parties unless a personal undertaking on an affidavit is submitted that it will not be leaked to anyone.
