Indian junior men’s hockey team leaves for Sultan of Johor Cup in Malaysia

Bengaluru, Oct 14 (IANS) The Indian junior men’s hockey team left for Malaysia, in the late hours of Monday, to participate in the 12th edition of the Sultan of Johor Cup to be played at Ipoh. India will face off against hosts Malaysia, Japan, Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand in the competition that will begin on October 19 and end on October 26.

New Delhi, Oct 13 (IANS) It was an eventful opening day of the Hockey India League player auction 2024/25 as 54 players including 18 overseas players were sold here on Sunday. All eight franchises spent as many as 16 crores 88 lakhs 50 thousand on day 1 as the Indian men's hockey team core players, along with overseas drag-flickers fetched big bids.

New Delhi, Oct 13 (IANS) The Hockey India League (HIL) player auction 2024/25 got underway in thrilling fashion, with all eight franchises spending heavily to acquire Indian men's team core players. Gurjant Singh (Rs 19 lakh) was the first buy while star drag-flicker and Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh (Rs 78 lakh) emerged as the costliest buy in the first half. Both players were acquired by Soorma Hockey Club, owned by JSW Sports.

SNBP All India U-16 Hockey: Holders Army Boys to play RoundGlass Academy for title

Pune, Oct 12 (IANS) Army Boys Sports Company, Bangalore will take on RoundGlass Academy in the final of the 8th SNBP All-India Boys (Under-16) Hockey Tournament at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi here on Sunday. In the semifinals, both teams advanced in contrasting fashion. RoundGlass Academy registered a 5-1 win over Dhyanchand Academy in the first semifinal and later Army Boys Sports Company, Bangalore got past Ritu Rani Academy 3-0.
