Widespread support for Women’s Reservation Bill; Oppn raises questions over delay

New Delhi, April 6 (IANS) A fresh political debate has emerged over the implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill after Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Budget Session of Parliament has been extended to facilitate its rollout. The law, enacted in 2023, provides for 33 per cent reservation for women in legislatures, but is currently linked to delimitation and is expected to come into effect by 2029.

New Delhi, April 6 (IANS) India’s security agencies are closely examining the remarks made by Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, where he made a reference to Kolkata. Asif warned that if India attempted any 'false flag operation', then Pakistan’s response would extend to Kolkata. "If India tries to stage any false flag operation this time then God-willing, we will take it to Kolkata," Asif said.
