Hangzhou, Oct 1 (IANS) Avinash Sable left from start to finish, Tajinderpal Singh Toor clinched with a massive throw in the final attempt and Jyothi Yarraji bagged silver after being illegally disqualified along with a Chinese competitor by the race officials on what was a dramatic day for India in the Asian Games athletics competitions on which the country showed its rising might by bagging nine medals in a single day, here on Sunday.

AFI to decentralise national coaching camps from next calendar year

New Delhi, Sep 29 (IANS) To broaden the training base across the country, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has decided to decentralise national coaching camps from next calendar year, AFI president Adille Sumariwalla said. However, national camps in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in select events will continue for the elite athletes.

Asian Games: Indians finish fifth in men's and women's 20 km Race Walk

Hangzhou, Sep 29 (IANS) India finished without any medals in the opening events of the athletics competition in the 19th Asian Games with both Vikash Singh and Priyanka Goaswami finishing an identical fifth in the Men's and Women's 20km Race Walk events held at the Qiantang River Green Belt on Friday morning.
