Munich, March 6 (IANS) Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer has been ruled out "for the foreseeable future" after tearing a muscle in his right calf during their 3-0 win over Leverkusen in the Round of 16 stage of the Champions League 2024-25. Former Germany No. 1 goalkeeper Neuer was forced off after injuring his calf while celebrating Jamal Musiala's second-half goal. Their recent signing, Jonas Urbig, replaced him, making his Bayern debut.

New Delhi, March 6 (IANS) Former New Zealand pacer Tim Southee has supported India pacer Mohammed Shami's call to revoke the saliva ban on the ball in international cricket to assist bowlers in getting reverse swing from the ball. The International Cricket Council (ICC) had, in May 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic as a temporary measure, barred players from using saliva to polish the ball. In September 2022, it was permanently banned by the ICC.

Tripathi said Dhoni told him not to try anything extra and to play his natural game. Tripathi made his IPL debut during the tenth season of the league, where he was a part of the Rising Pune Supergiants, along with Dhoni. Ahead of his first match for the franchise, the former India captain helped Tripathi calm down his nerves.

Mumbai, March 6 (IANS) England pacer Brydon Carse has been ruled out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to an injury. He will be replaced by South Africa's pace-bowling all-rounder Wiaan Mulder in Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) squad. Mulder will join SRH for Rs 75 lakh. He has played 11 T20Is in addition to 18 Tests and 25 ODIs. He has picked up 60 wickets in international cricket and has scored 970 international runs.
