West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made major announcements regarding railway and metro development projects in Bengal.
Suvendu Adhikari stated that projects worth ₹1 lakh crore will now move forward with full state cooperation, including land support and more than 40 NOCs for railway works. He highlighted that railway projects are planned across North and South Bengal.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw accused previous governments of slowing development and announced massive railway investments under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He revealed plans for new-generation Metro trains in Kolkata, expansion of railway connectivity, and a proposed bullet train route connecting Delhi, Lucknow, Patna, and Siliguri.
The minister also claimed that travel time between Delhi and Siliguri could be reduced to just 6 hours in the future.
