Kyiv, Aug 24 (IANS) India’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Anjani Kumar, called on the country's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on Monday to convey greetings of External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar on the occasion of Ukraine’s 35th Independence Day.
“Independence Day of Ukraine. At the celebration of Ukraine’s 35th Independence Day in Kyiv today, Ambassador Anjani Kumar had the honour to greet and congratulate H. E. Mr. Andrii Sybiha, Hon’ble Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. He also conveyed greetings of H. E. Dr. S. Jaishankar, Hon’ble External Affairs Minister of India,” the Embassy of India in Ukraine stated on X.
Earlier in the day, the Embassy of India in Kyiv conveyed its warmest greetings on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day. Wishing peace, progress and prosperity to one and all.
Last month, EAM Jaishankar met Andrii Sybiha and held discussions regarding attacks on Indian seafarers.
"Glad to connect again with FM Andrii Sybiha of Ukraine, after our respective travels. Discussed attacks on commercial shipping and Indian seafarers in the Black Sea. Such attacks by any party are absolutely unacceptable, and India condemns them unequivocally," Jaishankar wrote on X.
He said that he was also briefed on recent developments pertaining to the Ukraine conflict and peace negotiations, and that India has consistently advocated dialogue and diplomacy between the parties concerned.
"Underlined the fragility of the current international situation, with multiple conflicts in different geographies. These are impacting fuel, fertiliser and food security, especially for the Global South. Agreed to remain in touch,” he noted.
Earlier in July, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine said that it was constantly monitoring the situation of the Indian seafarers currently stranded aboard a cargo vessel at Ukraine's Chornomorsk port and has attached the "highest priority" to this incident.
The mission said that the Indian officials were in touch with the authorities concerned to ensure the safety of all the Indian seafarers.
