Hyderabad, April 3 (IANS) Alleging that the Congress party failed to implement the election promises made in Telangana, Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy has appealed to people of Kerala not to believe the “fake promises” of the party in the Assembly elections.
In an open letter to the people of Kerala, Kishan Reddy explained the six guarantees and other promises made by the Congress party in Telangana.
“The experience of Telangana offers an important lesson. Promises made during elections may sound attractive, but without proper planning and financial discipline, they remain only promises,” wrote Kishan Reddy, the BJP MP from Telangana.
Referring to newspaper advertisements in Kerala by the Congress party claiming implementation of promises in Telangana, he urged people not to be misled by such advertisements.
He wrote that before believing such assurances, it is important to carefully examine what has happened in states where similar promises were made earlier.
“Keralam deserves governance that delivers development, financial stability, and honest administration, not just promises made during elections. Keralam, known as ‘God’s Own Country,’ should not allow these political tourists, who have already deceived citizens elsewhere with unfulfilled promises, to repeat the same here,” he said.
He requested the people of Kerala to carefully examine the facts and make a wise, informed decision for the state's future.
He claimed that the NDA under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership is the only alternative that has stood by the people of Kerala and fulfilled its promises to the state, and appealed to people to give the BJP-led alliance an opportunity to serve them.
Kishan Reddy stated that Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s visit to Kerala on April 1 was defined by uninformed rhetoric that failed to resonate with the enlightened public.
In his election campaign speeches, he tried to portray the Congress government in Telangana as implementing the promises made in its manifesto, and as enjoying unwavering support from the people of Telangana, Kishan Reddy wrote.
The Central minister said the Congress party came to power in Telangana by promising six guarantees and more than 420 promises to farmers, women, youth, and the poor.
He alleged that the guarantees made by Congress are absolutely fake.
The BJP leader said farmers were promised Rs 15,000 per acre annually, along with Rs 12,000 financial support for agricultural labourers, but even after several crop seasons, no farmer has received this support.
The promises to increase the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 10 crops and provide Rs 500 bonus per quintal for paddy have not been implemented, he said.
The farm loan waiver was another major promise. Nearly 40 lakh farmers are still waiting for this benefit as the government now says that there are not enough funds, he said.
Kishan Reddy mentioned that women were promised Rs 2,500 per month, 10 grams of gold, and Rs 1 lakh in financial assistance for Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, but no woman has received these benefits.
“At the same time, the financial condition of Telangana has worsened, with the state’s total debt and liabilities crossing Rs 10 lakh crore. Many large promises were made without adequate financial planning, pushing the state deeper into debt,” he added.
