Patna, April 8 (IANS) The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), which completed 11 years today, has helped many small-time entrepreneurs realise their dreams, shaping their journeys. Thousands of success stories have emerged, with beneficiaries crediting the flagship scheme for unlocking their entrepreneurial spirit.

One such inspiring story is that of Deepak Kumar, a resident of Pakrar in the Katkamdag block of Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district, who leveraged this scheme to significantly expand his small business.

He secured a loan of ₹5 lakh under this scheme in 2018. At that time, he owned only a small shop; however, with his hard work, he became a successful proprietor of multiple shops in the city. His shop 'Poonam Dhaga-Button' (Poonam Thread & Button) has established a reputable identity within the local community.

He attributes his success to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and to welfare policies that empower small traders.

He secured the loan from the Bank of India and repaid the entire amount within the stipulated timeframe. He said that the requirement of collateral for small traders is often the biggest hurdle, but this has successfully eliminated that obstacle.

Speaking to IANS, he mentioned that his shop now stocks almost every type of item related to tailoring and stitching. Previously, he lacked sufficient inventory, often leaving customers empty-handed; after securing the loan, he was able to increase his stock and expand his business.

Similarly, Ashok Prasad, a trader in kitchenware and utensils, also utilized this scheme to expand his business. He shared that his trade was previously constrained by a lack of capital, but the loan obtained through the Mudra Scheme enabled him to enlarge his shop and procure new merchandise.

He also thanked the Prime Minister, stating that such schemes are immensely beneficial for small traders.

Rajni Devi, who runs a shop selling worship materials, also lauded the scheme. She explained that her business had been unable to grow due to a lack of capital; however, after receiving a Mudra loan, she expanded her shop, and her business has since grown rapidly.

She added that her family no longer faces financial hardships and encourages her acquaintances to avail themselves of the scheme's benefits as well.
